Sanity is a Symphonic Death Metal band from Berlin, Germany that formed back in 1994 by brothers - Philipp & Florian Weishaupt. The band's music is a slurry mix of Death Metal, Unblack Metal, Extreme Metal guitars, Thrash, blast beats, with a little theatre thrown in. Sanity is not new on the Metal scene and now has three full-length albums to their credit including their 1998-album 'Sinister Reflections', their 1999-album titled 'Nocturnal Poems', and their 2001 album 'Schattensymphonie'.   
       After the release of their 2001 album, the band seemed to go on hiatus leaving fans to wonder if they would ever again see another record from the band!

       However, 22 years after the release of their 2001 album, Sanity returned to the Metal scene! In 2023 Sanity released their studio 5-track EP titled 'Revelation' on an indie record label. 'Revelation' represents the release of the band's first act of their "Epic Revelation Cycle". This is a concept album based on the apocalyptical book of Revelation. The band states: "The Book of Revelation basically lays out the apocalypse. It’s about the end of the world! And not by any random or man-made natural disaster, no, it is about God judging the world. This judgment is carried out by mighty angels and at the end of it a third of mankind is dead. It is a grim business. Based on this narrative we wanted an angel portrayed, on the album cover, that is mighty and powerful surrounded by a multitude of people who all look up to him in apprehension of the coming judgment."
​       This recording features top-tier Symphonic Death Metal along with good production, melodic/extreme Metal guitar styles, punchy bass lines, and over-the-top drums. For added interest, the band has smartly interjected theatrical clean-vocals and some "Unblack" extreme-vocals. 

       By the way, there's a nice instrumental at the end of track-2 "Scroll" that will send chills up your spine.

       The string section for Sanity is managed by shredders Florian Weishaupt, Ludwig Liebsch, & Julius Albe.

       After the release of their 2023 recording, the band returned to the studios to begin work on new material to complete their "Epic Revelation Cycle".

       In 2024 Sanity released their studio 4-track EP titled 'The Beast' on an independent label. The eagerly awaited second act of their "Epic Revelation Cycle" has now been completed with the release of their 2nd EP 'The Beast'. This is a concept album based on the apocalyptical book of Revelation. "The EPs of the Revelation Cycle are more than just music; they are a journey into the horrors of the end times, an ode to corruption and the terrifying visions of God's unrelenting wrath".
​       This 2024 release is a bit more seasoned with Unblack Metal vocals than their 2023 'Revelation' release. With that said, this is a good follow-up to the 2023 first act of the "Epic Revelation Cycle". This 2024 recording continues in the veins of "Revelation" along with plenty of intense blast beats from the percussion department. ​

       Sanity is for fans of Adorned Graves and all things Death Metal! If you have been wanting to pull the trigger on purchasing some extreme Metal music but just can't get past the Unintelligible lyrics due to the vocal style, then you should check out what Sanity brings to the table.
